Our Committees
Jesus said, “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them!” We take these words very much to heart, as we pray, plan, organize and dream together in groups we call our committees.
Our committees are listed here. Anyone can join them, so if there is one that sounds like you, let us know! We always love fresh perspectives and new ideas.
BUDGET & FINANCE COMMITTEE
Prepares church’s annual budget; regularly monitors church’s revenues and expenses; oversees and works with Treasurer and Financial Secretary; manages annual renewals of insurance coverage; supervises invested funds; oversees the Memorial, Endowment and Legacy of Faith programs.
BUILDINGS & GROUNDS COMMITTEE
Serves to make the “House of God” a safe, convenient, clean and pleasant place for the congregation, friends and neighbors of Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church to come to for worship and fellowship, including overseeing building and property improvements.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Spreads God’s word through involving members of all ages in the life of the church. This is accomplished through maintaining a Sunday School program, Vacation Bible School, Youth Group program, confirmation and adult education.
CHURCH CARE & KINSHIP COMMITTEE
Helps build community with our church family through gatherings and fellowship.
CHURCH MEMBERSHIP
Cares for the members of the church by maintaining church rolls. Organizes and leads new member classes for inquirers, welcoming those who are exploring faith and church life and helping them become more fully connected to the ministry and fellowship of the church.
COMMUNITY MISSION COMMITTEE
Helps support our neighbors near and far. Major responsibilities include Food Pantry, Clothing Drives, Special Needs Collections, Local Mission Funds.
DISCIPLESHIP COMMITTEE
Encourages our members to contribute their Time, Talents, and Treasure in support of the various Missions and Ministries of Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church, inviting financial support for the Church and related missions and ministries. This is primarily conducted through an annual Pledge Campaign.
HOLY GROUND
Guides the creation of a sacred space for outdoor worship and community gathering. A generous gift was given to OGPC to support this project and its purposes.
MEDIA & TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE
Assists in relaying the "Word of God" and information regarding church related activities to our congregation and community through media of various forms (e.g., live stream services Facebook, audio, Zoom, etc.).
NOMINATING COMMITTEE
Seeks out church members who have the motivation, commitment and skills needed to serve and lead as church officers.
PERSONNEL COMMITTEE
Supports our staff, and, along with the Pastor, serves as a bridge between Session and staff. Prepares and maintains updated job descriptions for all staff, annually reviews staff responsibilities and salaries, and evaluates performances.
SAFETY & SECURITY COMMITTEE
Promotes the safety of all who enter the church buildings and grounds by maintaining relationships with local law enforcement and first responders and by providing the congregation with training and awareness for emergency preparedness.
WORSHIP, MUSIC & SPIRITUALITY COMMITTEE
Visions and plans for services of worship and supports and enhances the spiritual growth of the church (including the music programs).
